Gender (In)Justice: A Femininist Legal Issues Symposium
Thursday, December 6, 12:30-4pm at the Champlain Senior Common Room, Traill University
This event is being organized by two Trent students for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Join them for an afternoon of critical dialogue on legal issues affecting women in Canada today. The symposium will open with a performance by celebrated Canadian musician Faith Nolan, and feature spoken word performances by local artists throughout. Free refreshments will be provided by the Seasoned Spoon Café. Members of the Trent community and general public are invited to attend this free event. Featuring panelists Gillian Balfour, Davina Bhandar and Valerie Waboose.
Candle Lit Vigil - End Violence Against Women
Thursday, December 6, 5:30-7:30pm in the Sadleir House Lecture Hall
Please join us for the annual Candle Light Vigil organized by the Women's Events Committee to commemorate the 14 young women murdered December 6, 1989 and to reflect on gendered violence. There will be a film exploring international perspectives on violence against women and a discussion lead by Paula Butler, Professor of Women’s Studies at Trent University.
