The Steering Collective is the governing body of the Centre. It holds the Centre accountable to the Trent student body and is responsible for decisions concerning finances, staffing, the Center's future and other issues of importance. It is made up of 7 members - 5 students, 1 community member and 1 faculty or staff member. The Collective runs on a consensus decision making model where all members get to express their views and provide input into all decisions.
The Steering Collective is recruited in the spring and ratified at our Annual General Meeting. One position is saved for the fall for a first-year or new student. Both men and women are invited to join the Collective.
Individual Responsibilities:
No experience is necessary, but you must be willing to make a year-long commitment and be willing to take on the other responsibilities described. To join, fill in and submit a Steering Collective Member Application (including the signatures of 5 full-time or levy paying students) available in the Centre.
This is by no means a complete list. At the Centre we're always trying to come up with new events, campaigns, groups and other things to do. We welcome suggestions and encourage anyone to send some ideas our way.
